| | | Is this pickerel? And if so, is it a native plant? I cannot find it in my identification book for native water life, but think I recognize it off the internet. However, some places refer to it as an import; others call it a native plant. It turned up unexpectedly in my pond together with some water plantain (I think?) from a friend's pond...
If it is pickerel, will it be ok in my smallish pond, or will it take over? Any advice gladly received. |

| | | Re: Is this pickerel? Definitely looks like one to me.
Pontederia Cordata, which is what I think it may be, is a native of N America.
We have one, or something very similar, in an ovalish pond about 7 feet by 4 and it is no problem.

No probs with the photo. I assumed it looked the right way up to you.
