My wife, who enjoyed digging the pond in the garden (See "pond creatures", if you can find it.) gave me two water hyacinth plants this spring.
They have been multiplying like mad (There must be over 50 plants by now.) but no flowers, which I was led to believe was the main attraction of this invasive guest.
Any ideas why?

some years its warm enough for them to flower, some years its not  and mine have multiplied to

I think you need a very hot summer to get them to flower. |

Forgive me for being blunt, I think the best idea is to remove all of them and bury them in the compost heap before they clog your pond and possibly escape into the local area!
Water hyacinth is possibly the most invasive water plant in the world and while here in England we are ok as the colder winters tend to kill it you might not be so lucky in warmer conditions in north France.
Please don't take this as a personal attack, it is no way one, but I thought I better warn you! |

They need long hot sunny spells to flower..they are not that attractive and not worth the risk of an invasion in the wild.
I would do like Neil says above and dispose of them.. |
