| | | ID : Estuarine shellfish species. Hello,
Whilst on the Exe Estuary off Exmouth during low tide I came across this shellfish that has me stumped. I reckon it is not a cockle but going through the books leaves me high and dry. I expect it is a common species but I am new to the marine lark so I would like to ask for assistance on this one please.
Regards,
Andrew. |

| | | Re: ID : Estuarine shellfish species. Evening,
I am not keen on Smooth Cockle as there are no radiating grooves on the sample you linked me to as on my specimen. Also the hinge is offset and Smooth Cockle is central.
I have sinced disposed of the specimen and learnt that there is a key of sorts in one of my books so I shall have to try to find another!
Regards,
Andrew. |
