I was watching some salmon parr and stone loach on a gravelly river bottom through my glass bottomed buck (bathyscope) earlier in the week and reflecting on how well they blend with the background.
As a matter of interest, I'm assuming you took this image with the Shanny in your "device" - did it's colour lighten when removed from the rock pool? |

I caught it using the good old pond dipping technique of finding a weedy bit and running the net through so didn't notice any colour change. My attempts at targeting specific fish where hopeless. I managed better aged 12 with a cheapo plastic net!
