advice on crayfish please

Hello. I love going down to the river, and I have often seen crayfish there for years, but always they have been the red ones like in the top photo (sorry bad image) but friday myself and a friend saw this crazy creature, it was incredible shade of blue, really stood out unlike the camoflague red ones, got me wondering, I've heard a lot about the american crayfish damaging the native speices, so was wondering, is this native? is it rare?

Hi drypulse. Your crayfish is a Signal Crayfish, the non native variety, and is not rare, but is very tasty .

You might need a license or permission to handle them then you cant really put it back as this is illegal to release a none native species back into the wild..
