I came across four of these creatures in my pond today but have no idea what they are, can anyone ID them for me? I'd also like to apologise for the photo but it's the best I could get.

Thank you Wild Woman, that looks spot on, I didn't know such a thing existed  I know this is a long shot but if you look at the bottom right corner of the image theres another insect in it's larval stage, it's long, thin and transparent, any ideas on this? Again, I know the image is poor quality but if you can give any ideas I'd appreciate it.

I know it as a Phantom Gnat larva.
