| |  Know of anygood plants to go around the pond ?
Hey guys i'm currently building a new pond and i'm wondering is there any plants in particular that people put around the pond for frogs/newts/toads to take cover and hunt in ? because i got cats and they have gone for frogs before

I've got strawberries, rhubarb , and ornamental grasses around mine. Are you after wildflowers or something for shade?

Ive got grass,along one side, ivy and some rockery plants making their way around the rest of the edges.
That reminds me...I should put a new pic up,in my diary... |

depends what your space is like, i have a lot of space around mine so its been allowed to run wild
mines got a mix of wild grasses left to grow tall, nettles, docks, ferns, hogweed and other wild flowers, brambles,
there are also shrubs piles of old roofing tiles and logs/stones
This is possible though as its not in a formal setting so it can run wild and get selectively cut back in autumn.

A pot with Aubretia would soon make a good shelter for insects and has lovely blue flowers for the bees. It could drape down, and you just trim it with shears in the autumn.

any better looking plants you can think of that will still go a good job ? | | | |
