| | new pond and very proud I have managed to dig out my new sloping pond, lay all the sand, underlay and liner...lug around huge rocks and bags of gravel, pebbles etc..... Its 6'x8' but slopes from a deep end of 18" to nothing. I keep going to look at it!
My husband only carried one or two bags of pebbles so I am feeling fitter and very proud of my self and my pond.
I have lots of marginals and a couple of deep water plants more floaters and oxygenators on the way. I have mossies laying eggs which are keeping my aquarium inmates happy but nothing else so far. I am planning to get a scoop or two of pond muck from other places to give things a start. |

| | | Re: new pond and very proud Thanks guys, I have yet to take a photo. I meant to do in progress ones but was so keen to finish it I forgot...also mud and cameras don't mix!
I have newts too I hope they like the new pond!
I had a pre-formed liner in part of it that was damaged so that came out and gave me a start to the shape..
I hope I get more frogspawn next year...they were late and no 'poles hatched this year, so I envy you your accidental tadpoles! |

| | Re: new pond and very proud Here is (I hope) a few pics of my new pond... not sure how to do this on this forum. http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/ar...umbs/02222.JPG http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/ar...umbs/02128.JPG http://www.wildaboutbritain.co.uk/ar...umbs/02020.JPG
I have had to clean out my other pond as it is full of yuk and no life! but found two stickles in there! poor things I have had to put them in the other new pond, which I didn't plan to do...oh well when all the plants grow up it will have havens for 'poles and newt-poles.
All I have now is mossies, midges, a few snails and two stickles and some tiny beetles....roll on all the waterlife.
