I have refilled and re-planted my other round pond, from which the stickles came and hopewhen the bio-filter gets going again it will not be so yuk filled...
I need to put up a high net against autumn leaves. |

| | Re: new pond and very proud Only one week! I am very impatient...I keep telling the frogs I come across in the garden to go have a look(lol)
I wish the plants would grow quickly as it is starting its pea soup phase, but at least we are in growing season.
Thank you for the compliment katheria |

| | | Re: new pond and very proud I had that green stage,a few weeks back.I keep tropical fish,so I thought the soloution would be the same.
The get rid of pollution, try dilution.
So I changed 80% of the water.Removed the aquatic compost, and replaced it with gravel.Any soil in the pond is bad news, even if you are weeding, bits of soil off the garden can cause problems.
Its clear as a bell now.
I replaced with tap water, conditioned with 'prime', which removes harmful additives to the water.
If you want any ebay is so cheap. Seachem. Prime
I have frogs in there, which wondered over from my little buried washing up bowl!
Yours looks really established.Well done |

| | Re: new pond and very proud I have a resident newt population but the leaky pond was not kind to this years babies. I have got two stickles from the other pond now so they won't be kind to anything...
Maybe the newts will like the other pond better now it is clean.
It does look established as I put mountains of plants in and as soon as they get going I think the green and algae will go away but there you go ponds get algae.
I keep tropical fish too and it is kept undercontrol but it never goes completely all part of the natural cycle.
Need more plants in the round pond..... |

I have newts too I hope they like the new pond!
I had a pre-formed liner in part of it that was damaged so that came out and gave me a start to the shape..
I hope I get more frogspawn next year...they were late and no 'poles hatched this year, so I envy you your accidental tadpoles! | Can I ask where the Newts came from? | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
