| | | Lillies been eaten Hi there
I have a water lilly think its called Moorei or something close to that.Started of great growing new leaves every couple of days.
Now however the leaves have got dark opaque patches all over them and are turning yellow from red but started out green. There are still new leaves coming up.
The pond is full of mosquito larvae and nothing else that I can see although I can see tiny slim worm like insects on the leaves.
Anyone else experienced this? |

Have a look here to give an idea of what's attacking them. Plant Pest - Waterlily Pests (beetle, aphid, leaf-mining midges) - Shoot |

Anyone else experienced this? | ....The link which Kayleigh posted very clearly shows how to recognise pest damage but your description might fit normal decay of the leaf. The leaves tend to change colour as they get older, rather like tree leaves in Autumn.
Does it look more like this?:
^ Normal decay. I have some better pics to post if I have a search.

| | | Re: Lillies been eaten After looking about online it appears it is leaf miner midgets.Definatly not normal decay as the leaves are transparent in places and are only maybe 3 weeks old.I can also see the larvae sitting on them.
Apparently have to cut away all affected leaves but that means I'll be left with a basket of roots
Thanks for the link Kayleigh

Your basket of roots will recover soon enough, even if not until next year.
