| | | Tiny beetle(?) in my pond, ID please? This might be a bit of a longshot as I have no photo of them because they are so small.
I haven't got a great deal of waterlife in my pond yet because I haven't planted up around the pond to provide cover for frogs etc. But, I've got quite a lot of gnat/mossie larvae in there, and I've just noticed these tiny peachy/beige coloured bugs. They are just below the surface and they occasionally dive down about a few cms with that kind of jerky action, as if they are doing breaststroke, which is what made me think they could be a beetle. They are only about 1-2mm in size, and they're shaped like a teardrop, with the pointy end being the head end. When they are on the edge of the pond I can see tiny tracks through the algae on the liner where they are munching through it.
Any ideas what they could be? |

| | | Re: Tiny beetle(?) in my pond, ID please? Thanks, Tom. I think that's what they are. I had noticed that the green water has cleared up a lot since I spotted them, so they must be helping with that. Brilliant. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
