| | | Re: Help with pond plant ID Looks like an oxygenator plant to me - A good thing to have in a pond. If so, you can just let it float and it will find its own way to grow and spread. Or anchor just the ends under a stone.
Sorry but I don't tend to remember all the names of everything.

| | | Re: Help with pond plant ID Looks like it might be Myriophyllum Spicatum (Water Milfoil) which is a great oxygenator, doesn't go too crazy and native to boot. |

What's the similar one, also very common, which has the all leaves curled over almost looped?

| | | Re: Help with pond plant ID The best way to plant this would be to weigh the lower end(s) down with a stone, leaving the tips to float up towards the surface. It will want something on the bottom of the pond to root into - if it's a new pond and hasn't yet accumulated much sediment at the bottom, you could add a bit of loose sand/gravel so it can take root. |

| | | Re: Help with pond plant ID I stuffed some of the Water Milfoil a friend gave me into a small earthenware plant pot with earth and gravel on the top and it grew well from there. At the time I didn't know about such things as not using ordinary soil but it hasn't made any difference - The water is very healthy (quite a few Caddisfly larvae) and lots of life in there.

| | | Re: Help with pond plant ID I'm wondering whether it is a water crowfoot. Anyway- it is a "good" native plant.
Just tie to a stone and place in deep water.
