| | | My new pond I was gonna post pics of a work in proghress but had to reinstall comp last night.A virus I think.
Anyhow here it is it's 2m x 2m and 40cm deep.Didn't really want to have to put stones all round the edge but garden is on a slope and had to backfill the liner a bit.
A bit concerned whether the turf will be ok with about 6-8 inches of liner under it.My hope is it will grow long then I can knock the gravel into the water and have grass flopping over the liner.Still have more turf to lay and most of the stones on the left will end up in the pond.

Heres another pic.Think I'll have to buil the stones up higher with a slope of course.I have put 2x Sworder,2x Hyacinth,Yellow water lily and some oxygentaing marginals.
I used 0.5mm pvc which seems quite tough and I hear black colour is more sun resistant.(not sure where I heard that ) |

| | | Re: My new pond Its looking good the turf will grow over the edge in no time and you will have to cut it I use scissors on mine as its the easiest way to trim it or it wicks water from the pond like a wick. |

| | | Re: My new pond I like it! The long shallow edge along the right hand side looks perfect. I think once you get some plants growing inside and around the pond it will look great and will without doubt attract plenty of wildlife. Disguising the liner is a problem that I'm still dealing with but my thinking is that if I plant enough plants, it should hide most of whats still viewable.
My pond was an accident, all I wanted to do was remove the path that led up my garden but after pulling the slabs up, I discovered an old air raid shelter and after digging it out, I decided to turn it into a wildlife pond. This is how it looked after clearing the shelter out.
Try and get some more photos as your plants start to take.

Gray | Wow..I would love this..I would make a shallow area where you have dug but make it wider and plant marginals there or a bog garden and keep the deep bit but tuck the liner behind the bricks and plant ivy so this grows over to hide the liner.
have a look here |

have a look here | Kayleigh, the area you spoke of making wider actually looks alot like your half barrel, though not as mature. I think the Ivy could also work well to disguise the liner. At the moment I've just planted a few trailers along the right hand side in the hope that over the next twelve months they'll have thickened out enough to cover that one side.
Thanks for your thoughts and ideas, much appreciated.
Cheers

when it comes to lining it would be easier and less wastfull to create a margin the length of the back. You will not only have less issues trying to fold the liner to limit creasing, but if your having to pay for a liner that's as wide as the former shelter and have the space then its best used, even if you use stones to separate it off and create a bog garden, and then a marginal area.
It will also mean the water line is covering this section of liner so you have an edge less to have to grow ivy, grass etc over

Cheers
