pond larvae ID

Hi,

My Dad found this larvae in his pond the other day and I can't find an image anywhere on the net that is quite the same.

His pond is small and there doesn't seem to be a lot else in there apart from what are probably mosquito or gnat larva, some small pond snails and a few tadpoles.

Anyone know what this is a picture of? It has a tail that it puts to the surface.

Its the aquatic larvae of either a soldierfly, or a possibly horsefly, bit Im fairly sure its soldierfly (both groups have some species with aquatic larvae). Took me a while to work out what they were when I first found one

Stratiomyidae looks like Stratiomys

Thanks for the quick response, I did wonder if it was a soldier fly but couldn't find an image that was quite the same, but it seems there are many species, so perhaps that's why.
