A Homeless Hermit !!

Such a nice day we went rockpooling at St. Mary's Lighthouse at Whitley Bay.

My brother is obsessed with crabs, so while on the hunt I turned over a rock to reveal a bunch of large hermit crabs squabbling and fighting....and in the middle of it all was this little guy...WITH NO SHELL!!!

I searched through all the shells in the pool and there wasn't any empty ones...none whatsoever.
So we scoured the pools and rocks, and found a few that seemed suitable....but it didn't take to any of them...eventhough we thought we'd hit the jackpot when it started backing up to one...it lost interest.
It seemed more interested in using a turret in the castle-shaped bucket we'd put it in than an actual shell
After about 30 mins of messing about, we were all getting sick so we put it in a cool rockpool near the sea with a selection of shells, and covered it to give it some privacy and protection.

Anyone ever seen a homeless hermit that refused a helping hand before

How interesting, I've never seen a hermit without his shell in the wild only on television, I seem to remember they had a few shells in a tank and the hermit took some time trying them out before picking one.
