| | | moorhens Hi everyone!
Following on from my recent thread, I've now moved into my new home.
I will post some pix of my pond when I find my camera, which has been lost somewhere in packing.
In the meantime, I am concerned because I haven't heard the moorhens for about three days now.
What could have happened to them?
Or is it the breeding season and they just go quiet?
Many thanks to all that reply |

| | | Re: moorhens Can you give anymore info like the thread name? what is the surrounding habitat like? they could have just been wintering at your pond it might not be big enough to sustain a breeding population. |

| | | Re: moorhens My thread title was Natural Pond. It is a huge pond and been here for about 150 years.
I think they do live on the pond and I inherited a photo showing a moorhen with her "clutch" on my pond. They have been here all the time because I hear their distinctive call. But I haven't heard them for a few days. So I wondered whether they go quiet during breeding?
Or has something else happened?
Do they go off to find mates?
Thanks dogghound |

| | | Re: moorhens No they should remain at the pond, they will continue to call and court. Possibly one has been killed? Have seen any activity since you posted? |

This is the best I can do as I've lost my camera in the house move! Perhaps you can zoom in to see the chicks better? | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
