| | | Porpoise in the Gorbals Down at my rowing club in Glasgow today and an unexpected visitor put in an appearance. Very difficult to get pictures so these are all at a wide angle as it would pop up anywhere within a 400 m radius

| | | Re: Porpoise in the Gorbals That's right - It's quite literally a building site just now as there is a new path being built along the south side of the river.
I don't know where it will be now. I reported it to the SSPCA so hopefully they'll have guided it down below the weir. If it is still where it was on Wednesday the best place for a good view would be Polmadie footbridge then along the path to Kings bridge. It was breaching a lot just a few yards downstream of Polmadie bridge for wahtever reason. |

| | | Re: Porpoise in the Gorbals There was a load of media hype about this - most of it rubbish. As you can see from my post the porpoise had been in the water for some time above the weir before the TV crews cottoned on a week later. Indeed it was reported in the Sun newspaper the day after I reported it here.
In fact one of the lads in our club said he saw it again on Saturday - although I have my suspicions that was a seal that I took a photograph of. Seals frequently appear around Glasgow green. |

| | | Re: Porpoise in the Gorbals Had the SSPCA let the BDMLR know about it when it was reported then steps could have been taken to get it out sooner. Was still in good body condition on the Tuesday night mind you. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
