| | | Terrapins in London Hi, I've managed to rescue a trapped terrapin from a pond at work, but now what can I do with it? I'm trying to find a sanctuary or something near London, but not having much joy.
Anyone done this in the past? |

No idea at all what you can do with it legally but you say you found it "trapped" in a pond. If you look in many places in the London area eg the ponds in Epping Forest, you will see many many terrapins especially in the summer. On hot days they are basking on logs and banks in the sun Some are now quite large. Surprised me that they survived last winters frozen lakes but were still around last summer. I assume they are breeding now but never seen any tiny ones

| | | Re: Terrapins in London ah, hadn't thought of thames water. Tried the RSPCA but of 2 numbers I got given, one didn't work!
And Mike it was literally trapped in fencing that was placed around some vegetation, was quite surprised it was out at this time of year really! |

| | | Re: Terrapins in London a lot of public ornamental ponds have had them released into them. There is a large population in Roundhay Leeds, from thumb sized through to dinner plate sized, you can see them sun bathing on top of each other on warm days

| | | Re: Terrapins in London They are pretty common on London lakes- so won't have needed rescueing. though as a non-native it's illegal to release them into the wild. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
