I've just spent a couple of hours Googling for filtration equipment so that we can use pond/ditch water in future. Eventually found Polypropylene disposable filter bags with a range of mesh sizes from 1 to 200 microns. I've ordered one at 25 microns - I think anything less may take too long for the water to filter through as it won't be under pressure. The bag is 7" diameter by 16" long and cost £3.20. If it works it should be re-usable a fair few times as long as it's thoroughly cleaned and dried between times, and if it doesn't work I haven't lost much. (Except for the P&P which was £8! EIGHT QUID!! )

| | | Re: Wat Tyler pond life I'm really enjoying this thread. Thanks Neil and Dave. The face of that phantom midge is just so expressive.

| | | Re: Wat Tyler pond life That's definitely worth a try too. Being paper there might be a bit of dust from the filters themselves but it's still worth a go.

| | | Re: Wat Tyler pond life Lovely. The BBC nymph has such a cute face. A little hirsute perhaps, but then nobody's perfect.

I thought that I fell in love too easily but it sounds as if a cute or expressive face and Deb is in love! Even with a phantom
Great idea to try to use original water and filter it.
