| | | Re: Greater Pond Snail They are both good, but yes, the second one has the edge. Did you take the pic in situ or did you put it in a tank for the shot? Just interested in technique.

| | | Re: Greater Pond Snail Nice photo, if you keep them long you will soon have millions upon millions of tiny snails in your tank they breed like rabbits. |

The sanils in tropical fish tank certainly follow the rabbit breeding pattern though! |

| | | Re: Greater Pond Snail When I created my small wildlife pond in June a friend donated me a couple of Great Pond Snails from one of his considerably larger ponds. Within hours of being let loose in my pond one sought out the other and they proceeded to mate and stayed in coitus for two hours! I watched them and was fascinated. One got smashed up by a Magpie in late August but the other is still around and there are dozens of smaller ones now though only a couple of juvenile (smaller) Great Pond Snails.
Here's some snail porn :
^ Probing
^ Coitus
As you can see, I did not remove them from the pond for photography.
They're not the sharpest of photos but they do capture the moment... Or should I say capture the two hours.

| | | Re: Greater Pond Snail I'd love to know more about them. Sometimes they seem to go to sleep for a few hours.
