As far as I am aware only Cyclops carry eggs like that. The long gills and the variegated colour are new to me. The need for camouflage as well as the writing in the background suggest an unusually large size for Cyclops. I would be interested in finding out what species of Cyclops it is.

| | | Re: unknown pond creature I've left the individual in the first set of photos back into the pond.. I dont really have the equipment to dye anything. I only have this little cheap hand help usb microscope, lol... they look similar in that you both are the same shape, have tentacles at the front and two short tails at the back... the only difference i can see from observing them is that 2nd one has darker makings, and is carrying a bunch of eggs.
I have videos of both. links below.
1st creature (bare with the video as i try and focus the microscope. 20101118190350.mp4 video by geraint1985 - Photobucket
2nd creature (not doing much, but it's cool how you can see all i's inners moving about, lol). 20101119183921.mp4 video by geraint1985 - Photobucket |

The 2nd one is definately one of the cyclops type crustaceans with those egg 'pouches/cases'. The first could be also, but I'm not familar with the Ploima Dogghound mentioned. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
