| | | Good year for cod Shore Cod fisherman are reporting the best year in nearly 20 years in the bristol channel.I have heard rumours it is down to the hard frost of the last few years allowing eggs to hatch without being attacked by fungus etc,any idea if this would be true ?.The fish grow very quick, most fish are on the size limit but lets hope for more good spawning years ahead and a recovery of sorts. |

| | | Re: Good year for cod Hi Naturenutz...
I've heard it is fishing well for Cod in the Channel at the moment, some are saying it is the probabaly the best for about 10yrs or so. I have not gone this year yet, but went a few times last year off Goldcliff and caught a good number of very small Codling. I would say it was the most i had caught in a very long time.
I don't know if this rise in catches is down to the Cod numbers showing a sign of recovery, or its just down to the dwindling shoals grouping together. This can give the impression that they are on the increase? |

Joking aside, thats good news about the cod. Lets hope the welfare of our seas is starting to improve across all species.
