| | | too early to thin out oxygenating plants?? Hi. the oxygenating plants in my pond have taken over. in the past I have just pulled out great chunks left it on the side for a few hours to allow the wildlife to (hopefully) return to the pond and composted it. However this year I have a problem. I know that lots of damselflies have bread and laid eggs in my pond. Is it safe to thin out my plants as usual or should i leave it till winter?? regards tn.

Many overwinter as eggs before hatching out the following spring so you would have to leave the plant in until post winter

| | | Re: too early to thin out oxygenating plants?? Hi thanks for the response.I deliberately let the plants take over as the bugs were breeding and i didnt want to disturb them. I think i will live with it as long as possible and then take a chance as normal. regards tn.
