| | | Marbled Duck/ Teal I was amazed to see a Marbled duck on the river weaver in Cheshire today, I took picture but had no idea what it was, I looked it up and found it was a rare Marbled Teal... |

| | Re: Marbled Duck/ Teal A beautiful bird. This species has yet to be accepted as a true wild vagrant to the UK despite the fact there are up to 100 pairs as close to the UK as southern Spain. The waters are muddled as it's a popular species in wildfowl collections so escapees are not uncommon.
I'm sure at least a few of the birds seen here must be wild but the majority are probably escapes, so the odds are your bird is such a bird, but nice find nonetheless!
Welome to WAB.
PS. This post would ideally be placed in the Birds sub-forum!

PS. This post would ideally be placed in the Birds sub-forum! | The part of the river was near nantwich where the river narrows with loads of waterside vegetation, typical habitat for Marbled Teal.. I hope its a vagrant and not an Escape.. I took this picture when it came out into the open briefly, and I have been on WAB a couple of years now, but very rarely go on the forum.
