| | | Leaches? I have a frog pond with no fish. I have noticed some very tiny black things that look leaches. They are about three centimeters long and moving across the surface of stones and plants. Are they leaches? Will they get any bigger? and are they anything to worry about? |

| | | Re: Leaches? Sorry, I ment to say 3 millimeters not centimeters I would have to be a really blind bat not to see what it was if it were 3 centimeters,
at least I didn't say 3 meters or I would be making for the hills. |

| | | Re: Leaches? I know where people are coming from when they have an aversion to them. But just watch how they swim - the movement is really beautiful and I defy anyone not to think better of them when they have witnessed this. |

| | | Re: Leaches? I looked on google at flat worms and they do fit the description, thanks Triops. I'm going to dig out my microscope for a closer look at the real thing. I'm sorry if I'm a bit squeemish at the thought of leeches, must have read too many jungle adventure stories when i was younger. I know everything has its place in nature, just not stuck on me. |

| | | Re: Leaches? I'm glad you are looking closer. If you're lucky you'll see one called "lugubris" and see that it gets its name from its slanted eyes, making it just look very sad! | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
