| | | Re: Natural Pond I have two natural ponds. One has plenty of native UK water plants, the other doesn't. I dont have any filtration/ pumping or any other unnatural systems, amnd have no problems with stagnant water.
The only introduced species are the plants, everything else has found it's own way in.
I have hundreds of tadpoles, froglets and frogs, plus Smooth Newts, a Toad, plenty of Damsels, Southern Hawkers, Common Darters, and plenty of other water bugs that are eeking out an existence. I just top the pond up with fresh water as the water level goes down due to evaporation.
Try it and see

| | | Re: Natural Pond My ponds have attracted a wide range of life with a large number of breading newts and a couple of large commom frogs, no spawn as yet in the 3 years it has been there.
All I did with my pond was fill it with some plants and did a shallow corner that I built a log pile over and the wildlife came, first to arrive being the pondskaters and the frogs ae always under the log pile. Be patient and the wildlife will come.
Damsel flies are busy mating now, blue and red ones, not sure what they are and the newts seem to be starting to leave the pond. | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
