Fish ID please

Walking along the towpath of the Chesterfield Canal NR Kiveton Park (S Yorks) I watched these fish in a group of 10 or so fish

Looking in my Collins Complete British Wildlife I thought Dace as well apart from the description of been a fish of fast-flowing rivers and streams and I saw them in a canal but do think Dace looks the best fit

I think they are Chub. They don't look quite right for Dace. The tail & dorsal fin look too dark and in the right hand photo (bottom fish) I think I see the white slash of the larger mouth of a Chub.

I have to agree with John.
They look like a typical group of chubb to me. Dace are generally much darker.
