Pea Mussel?

Should I introduce some pea mussels into my barrel pond? I've come across an eBay seller who appears to have a good reputationandis selling 3x native pea mussels. They describe them as being helpful to the general pond environment by grazing on algae, etc. I did ask them how they would fair in a bad Scottish winter like we've just had but they stated it was beyond their experience.

The pond is new and tomorrow I will hopefully be adding pictures to the following thread (eventually ): Wildlife Container Pond?

I wouldn't use them personally its such a small environment you dont know if it would support them..
I heard they can die and pollute the water.
That's only my opinion so do what you think is best.

Agreed Kayleigh, I'll just leave the wildlife to colonize the pond naturally.
