Hi Dave nice find there! Not ever found hydra tbh so I am watching your updates with much interest.

According to my sources you have Hydra viridissima (a.k.a. green hydra) and it does indeed appear to have some form of symbiosis with the green algae that gives it it's colour. Can't tell you much more I'm afraid!
