| | | Sea Lamprey I remember listening to a radio prgram a few years ago about Sea Lampreys spawning near Boroughbridge in Yorkshire. I think it was in June, but I can't remember.
Earlier this year I saw my first river lamprey, and it made me want to go see the larger marine lamprey.
I emailed Boroughbridge council a couple of weeks ago, but I haven't heard anything back yet.
Does anyone here know about where and when to see marine lampreys near Boroughbridge? Or indeed anywhere in Yorkshire?

I can't help re Yorkshire but in south Cumbria the Sea Lampreys spawn in the first two weeks of July, normally round about the 4th - Independence Day.
I watched River Lampreys spawning two weeks ago. Good luck with your quest.
Suggest you contact the Environment Agency fisheries guys in the York office. |

Sea Lamprey are seen around these parts mostly in June, i believe they where seen from Boughrood Bridge over the Wye on 10th June last year.
I'm lucky enough to work at a place where we have a "land locked population" (though some what artificial) and we are currently seeing Sea Lamprey on a daily basis, they are all roughly about 6inch at the moment. We even had one attached to the bottom of a sailing Dinghy. |
