Grass Snake

Had the first sighting of the Grass Snake this morning, I was all fingers and thumbs to get a proper photo.

The Frogs decided to turn up today too, along with the Newts. Funny how they all showed their faces, on the same day.

I saw one yesterday B.M,it was only the thickness of my thumb, and almost submerged with just its head stuck out of the shallow water,it's body was buried in mud,waiting for froggies,if it hadn't of moved I would have missed it,even then it was a binos job to re- find it.Jason

Got up this morning and went straight outside without thinking, there's me stomping around and then I remembered the Grass Snake, didn't think it would still be around,



but it was.

Here is the tiny Grass Snake that I saw B.M,mostly under mud and water was he,as you can see.

Just looked back at last years first sighting and it was the 24th May, found that quite helpful.

I thought he was a bit early this year, I'll now await the Female to come along, she's a Monster, too big for my pond I reckon.

Well done Jason for spotting the Snake in that murky water.

I saw a grass snake on Sunday, I disturbed it when it was basking beside a footpath and it shot off into a ditch. I only saw it because I heard rustling in the dead leaves under a tree. It made my day

went out into my back garden yesterday, soon as i stepped my foot on the patio, frogs and newts all come out of there ponds and hiding places. i was so confused that i shook my head and put them all back where they popped out from...weird

This is the smaller Snake that visits the pond, it's a hungry Snake.
