Grass Snake

The Snakes have been turning up in the afternoon when the Pond is in the shade, but today one turned up when the Sun was still around, It looked rather hungry.





It wasn't interested in the smaller Fish at all, it was certainly looking for a much larger meal, but not today, not from my pond anyway.

Goldfish don't seem to realize that Grass Snakes are their predator, they swim round the Snakes as if it's not there, but their quick reaction, when the Snake strikes out, is very successful. Makes me think that Grass Snakes don't catch many Fish, unless they are old and slow or have some form of disability.
