| | | Fish ID Please I found this fish in my koi pond towards the beginning of autumn and decided to take it indoors so that the koi wouldn't eat it. It has grown much larger over the previous months and I would appreciate an ID (and a suggestion of what to do with it). I live in London, however there are a few big ponds around me - I think a bird must have carried over some eggs into my pond. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2739/...a875217924.jpg |

| | | Re: Fish ID Please It looks like a variant of a Goldfish variety. Don`t know which one though. There are surely Goldfish fanciers among the merry band of Wabbers. |

| | Re: Fish ID Please goldfish, which are from the carp family, revert to black when bred in the wild, this one looks about half and half but it's a beautiful bronze colour which would be great if you could breed them to stay like that.

| | | Re: Fish ID Please Thanks a lot for the responses.
I have a large koi pond however I haven't seen many goldfish around my area. I thought it was a native UK fish as there is a fishing pond nearby.
Would it be ok in my pond or would the koi bully it?
I guess it is around 8-10 months old. By goldfish do you mean a common goldfish?
Edit:
I googled wild goldfish and this is what I found: http://www.ew.govt.nz/PageFiles/1224...phen-Moore.jpg
I'd appreciate any tips on what to do with it.

Only thing I was told by a pond guy was that you have to be careful when adding chemicals eg for sickness & disease that some of the harsher ones for koi may not be compatible with goldfish. Always check before you buy.
I would have to get it some mates tho so it doesn't feel lonely! But then that's just an excuse for me to go shopping!
ps what a lovely colour he/she is.
