Itmight also be an eft, a young newt or salamander. It obviously would have to have crawled well out of its comfort zone! which would account for how sick it looks. Or perhaps somebody dumped it there.

Not a chance Animartco - definitely a butterfish (gunnel). Very common in rock pools.

There are no salamanders in the uk.And efts are way to small and even then they have legs and are not saltwater amphibians .So i agree butterfish
