The pump in our pond is inside a plastic cage that gets covered with various gunge which reduces the flow.

When I removed the cage earlier today to give it a clean I found the inside surface was covered in these little bugs/larvae? Does anyone know what they are? Each is about 6mm long.

The pond has some goldfish. Will these things harm the fish or will the the fish eat them?

They are blackfly (simuliidae) larvae of one sort or another, very common in pond pumps/filters. They will do the fish no harm, in fact the fish will enjoy them if they can get to them
