| | | Bitten by the "Water "Bug Whilst surveying our community woodlands pond today I netted several Common Back swimmers. Notonecta glauca L. The cahirman came alongto watch and I picked up one and showd it to him Cor Blust! the back swimmer did't have give me a bite, I suppose with it's probiscus.. Chinerey in lit does warn that fingers are an easy target.
We also found lots of Ramshorn water snails and pea mussels. |

| | | Re: Bitten by the "Water "Bug Most heteroptera would have a go with their piercing mouthparts if provoked, some (like boatmen) with more success than others. Don't let a water scorpion have 'a go' ..........

| | | Re: Bitten by the "Water "Bug Do water scorps have a worse bite than water boatmen? - I had both in a container once - hadn't got round to noticing the scorp, until the boatman had the thing pierced |
