| | | mayfly nymph ID? I think this is a mayfly nymph but im not sure cos it hasnt got big gill things on the side of its body - but i think it has little ones - can anyone comfirm?

| | | Re: mayfly nymph ID? I think it's a Damselfly rather than a Mayfly, the head shape is wrong for a mayfly. On one of your photos the "tails" seem to have a definite width to them so maybe an early instar damselfly where the tails aren't fully expanded. Was it from still or running water? - always a good thing to give as much information as you can to help people ID things.

Whilst the three caudal lamellae appear to be whip like as in Mayfly larvae, the shadows in image 9747 show leaf shaped lamellae. |

mayfly have gills along the length of the abdomen |
