| | | pond fountain pump blockage My pond fountain pump keeps get blocked by a pond plant which looks like watercress, it is the stem part of the plant which seems to be pulled into the pump and blocks it. What can i do to stop it? and what is the plant? |

if yours is in deeper water you could invert a second one on top of the first, with a suitable hole cut in the bottom for the fountain to fit through,

| | | Re: pond fountain pump blockage I had the same problem. I found the best cure was to get some rigid plastic garden mesh and make a small cage to go around the inlet part of the pump.
This stops plants and weed and even small fish being sucked into the pump and you wont have to clear the pump a tenth of the time that you do currently

easy peasy lemon squeasy | the only problem with a mesh cage is it still lets some larger bits through, the aquatic plant pots have a small mesh like perforation which filters out most of the large stuff, (in my case anyway) plus i had the pots going spare at the time
either method is worth a try if it prevents your pump from burning out due to blockages,
