dragonfly larvae
On the 20th of September I spotted a dragonfly larvae leaving the water. I believe it is the dragonfly larvae of a hawker. Can anyone identify what hawker species it might be??? Also is the date not very late for it to be leaving the water???

devils coach horse beetle Staphylinus olens, sorry not a dragonfly larvae.

Yep, looks like you are right. Still a nice find, and that also explains why the date seem odd to me too.

Just been looking it up to see what I can find out. The preferred name is Ocypus olens. But as long as one knows what it is I don't suppose it really matters.
