| | | Mini Bog Container The problem with my container-bound ponds are that I can't really fill them up with all the plants I want.
I've purchased 10 bog/marginal plants off ebay today and I have this idea - not sure if it is crazy
I want to purchase the plastic containers you see in pound shops (large but shallow) and fill one up with soil and water (perhaps so that there is 2cm of water above all the soil) and plant the 10 marginal plants in there. I will then have my half-barrel pond and a small plastic-cotnainer-bound bog garden.
So basically get a large pot (sealed) fill it with compost; plant the marsh marigolds, rushes, robins, irises, forget-me-nots, then fill with it water.
Would this work? Or would the water go stagnant.
Thanks

| | | Re: Mini Bog Container Hello ilia 123, by definition stagnant means standing still, not flowing, so the water in your sealed containers would be stagnant. Is your half barrel sunk into the ground? If it is why not remove some of the soil next to the tub and line it with plastic and puncture it a few times and then replace the soil and water well. Any overflow from the tub could go into the new boggy area ...Bob
