| | | Pond webcam Has anyone thought about putting a webcam in a pond..
There are lots in bird box's but not seen any for a pond..
How would you go about getting one and setting it up. You must be able to buy a submersible camera or are they extortionate prices and complicated pieces of kit.
I want to set a live webcam up in my pond and link it to the net somehow......
Any ideas.. |

| | | Re: Pond webcam Hi kayleigh, some koi carp keepers do put cameras in the pond, but the water colour is often very clear due to many koi ponds being kept as fish only and no plants etc and a very powerfull filter and uv system to kill algae etc. I think the main problem would be water clarity. What is your water clarity like kayleigh ? |

| | | Re: Pond webcam The water is not too bad due to the oxygenators its quite clear but there are rather a lot so visibility may not be that good..
But it would be interesting as the newts breed in there and the displays are worth seeing. |

| | | Re: Pond webcam Maplins do two complete underwater CCTV surveillance kits, complete and ready to go. Both have 20metres of cable ready connected to the cameras
The Black & white kit (ref. N77FX) costs £59.99, and the colour kit (ref N78FX) costs £149.99.
Both cameras have infra red night vision LED's incorporated as well, so you would be able to watch your pond life at night too.
The cameras are waterproof to a depth of 20metres (so that should be just about suitable for your ponds eh ).
Each kit comes complete with its own monitor, but they can also be plugged into televisions & dvd recording devices.
The power supply plugs in at the monitor end, so you just have the one cable going out to the camera.
The only reason I'm aware of these is because I bought some CCTV equipment there after having a much treasured Acer recently stolen from my garden.
Regards

to replace though.. | It was one that my late mother planted over 25years ago, a very special acer dissectum atropurureum, which obviously had immense sentimental value. Quoted costs to replace with a similar fully mature specimen - over £400.00 - Hence, I'm not going to bother as a new one would probably just get stolen again before the roots had time to get a hold.

Hi Kayleigh, did you ever follow up on the pond cam idea? I should like to install one in my pond (pic attached). I have been searcing the net and found very few different types (4 or 5). The one suggested by LL seems to appear most often. Ideally I should like day and night vision, panning and zoom, solar powered and wireless remote control , but haven’t found one of that spec. I did see one, PTV on the Closewatch site that had 3 light levels (inc night) had 360 deg panning (£250)and was apparently available with wireless remote (extra £100). All the “extras” are fine but the most important thing is the quality of the images, and it is very difficult to judge without seeing them in action . So, like you, I am canvassing for info please from people with experience in the pond cam field.
