| | | Unidentified fish/mollusk eggs? Can any one identify these mysterious egg (presumably) clusters found at low tide on a beach near Broadstairs in kent??? Egg clusters placed on a pile of laver seaweed for contrast.

| | | Re: Unidentified fish/mollusk eggs? We get squid eggs laid on crabpots in deep water. Should be later in the year really but over the past few years we have started finding them all the time.
When one squid decides on a suitable place others often lay their eggs alongside.
The eggs darken as they age. The attachment 'glue' contains some substance which quickly 'eats away' at steel.
Cuttlefish eggs will start appearing soon. Black and hang in bunches, almost like grapes. |

| | | Re: Unidentified fish/mollusk eggs? I've seen them in books and on the Blue Planet  There's one episode in that series which shows squid mating in tropical water. It's obviously different species, but the capsules look just the same as yours. |
