I have always presumed that the objective of creating a wildlife pond, as opposed to either a purely ornamental pond or a dedicated fish pond, is to recreate a natural ecosystem with the maximum biodiversity possible.
Goldfish are a form of carp, which are effectively swimming vacuum cleaners, found naturally in large lakes or rivers at relatively low population densities. Introducing an unnaturally high population of a top predator into a small closed system like a garden pond will inevitably result in a loss of diversity.

You make a few remarks on what you believe in and get ripped to bits..
All I wanted to do was advise someone who was ill informed that dragonflies cause more damage than fish.. 
This is wildlife site after all not a fish keeping site.
Why does every discussion have to turn nasty.
I will keep my opinions to myself in future....
