| | | frogspawn We bought a house with a pond last year and were delighted when the frogs came and deposited their spawn. Unfortunately not long after this, the fish came out of hibernation and ate it all. We have a smaller pond at the other side of the garden that doesn't contain fish, is it alright to move this years spawn there or should i just let nature take it's course? |

| | | Re: frogspawn Well i would move it, The ponds are in your garden so that's okay moving it from a wild pond away from your garden can move diseases. i have moved a little of my spawn to a bowl by my back door to protect it from late frosts. I have done this before with success.

No tadpoles in my garden pond yet, I am hoping the fish leave the spawn alone! |

| | | Re: frogspawn While walking on a forest track at the weekend, we came across lots Of smallish toads. At least I think they were Toads, having a more rougher texture than the frogs. Three lots were mating with the smaller male, I presume, on the top. What a sight! |

| | Re: frogspawn i fetched my frogspawn inside as my fish had eaten most of it! however they have started to hatch already and many have come off of there case and fallen to the bottom of the tank...while others are still on top of there sack/case i assume eating.
are the ones at the bottom going to die? they move a little but are to weak to get back to there sacks. |

Coz death is likely to result after that. I think those tadpoles first hatch will be fine, just give them lettuce leaves to eat. And a quantity of fresh pond weed at this stage is very important. Partly as their food and to support young tadpoles. |

| | | Re: frogspawn I think it will be too warm inside also. I buried a bucket in the garden and filled it with the pond water they were in and then transferred them. they also need stones etc to help them climb out when they become frogs. | | | | | Thread Tools | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
