| | | Wildlife Pond Pictures - Let's See Yours! Slightly surprised there isn't already a picture thread for wildlife ponds (that I could find) so this is it. I don't have a pond of my own to show off (yet) but I'd love to see all yours! |

| | | Re: Wildlife Pond Pictures - Let's See Yours! Wow, what's it like when it's not flooded?
We did have four ponds (front garden - fairly wildlifey, back garden - ornamental fish pond, field - frog infested, and one in some woods which I planned on rescuing) however we recently moved so now all we have is a small ornamental fish pond. The upside is that the new garden is a fair size, so hopefully (with permission) I'll have my own wildlife pond project underway! |

I only finished our pond a couple of weeks ago so it's looking a bit bare & new - looking forward to seeing what I can expect in the coming months/years!

| | | Re: Wildlife Pond Pictures - Let's See Yours! Last year I bought a cheep sand pit (in the sale at B&Q) and stuck it at the bottom of our front garden. Its about a 3ft long 2ft wide and 1ft deep in the shape of a boat.
I put some of my frogspawn from my fish pond and spent a lot of time watching the taddies growing up as well as the other inhabitants. It does'nt take them long to colonise it. Great fun. |

| | | Re: Wildlife Pond Pictures - Let's See Yours! Here's a couple more Mark, sometimes the river gets a lot higher than this, right up to the base of the wall on the right, looks good but the noise is better:

| | | Re: Wildlife Pond Pictures - Let's See Yours! What a lovely bit of 'borrowed landscape' you have there Ron - the sights and sounds of the river must give you a great deal of pleasure
Ever thought of constructing a Kingfisher nestbank
Here's a couple of shots of one of our two ponds (with stream linking them), the 2nd showing one of our regular visitors -
I was lucky enough to win 'Wildlife Pond of the Year' in 2005 in a national gardening magazine competition
Then last summer I lost all my bigger fish to a marauding Heron but the good news is that we've now got frog spawn in the pond for the 1st time - "silver lining" and all that
