| | pond for frogs Hi Can anyone advise on the plants to grow around my new (small ) wild life pond

Hello and welcome! try contacting you local wildlife trust as they may be clearing out local ponds and have suitable aquatic or emergent vegetation going spare this would be best, native and of local provenance and packed full of microbes and minibeasts to kick start you pond into life!
Things like water mint are good for invertebrates and things and pretty. |

One question I do have though - when is it best to set it up? I haven't yet built it and was thinking that digging it soon so that there's an established pond there before spring would be the best bet? |

Plus you can then let the naturally wet winter weather fill it for you! |
