Shore Crabs

As part of my study of Estuarine/ Marine Fauna I caught several Green shore Crabs (Carcinus maenas) on Bacon wrapped in Persil bags. Having wieghed & measured tham they seem to be in good health. I also caught only one Harbour Crab (Liocarcinus depurator) In the drop net several Lobsters but these were just below the CEFAS Limits these toowere weighed measured & released.

There are also several Mullet at Lowestoft & look to be Thick Lipped but cannot be sure as I cannot catch one to see.

Hi Colin,

Was down on the pier this morning for around 3 hours and had shore, velvet swimmers, edible and sandy swimmers as well as a tiny baby lobster - an inch long at most - and a couple of pints of prawns. 1 shrimp, 1 weaver and a coalfish, 1 rockling and a blenny. LOADS of whitebait and some fry as well. All in the dropnets. You done well to get a few lobsters - I only had 5 last year (2 this year, both undersize, but have hardly been out with the nets).

There used to be mullet in the yacht basin - big ones - but alas I always failed to tempt them as well.
