| | | re: Signal Crayfish wouldn't that be for use in survey for the white clawed, I'm not sure they are stocking it to aid the free food trade? Not that it matters I suppose..... |

| | | re: Signal Crayfish ..... just checked they have a smaller one for the native white claw and a larger one for the Signal (but that doesn't mean the white claw can't get into the bigger one!) |

you'll have to catch em before the water drops below 10 degrees. apparently after that they just burrow into the bank and go to sleep till it warms up. |

| | | re: Signal Crayfish I am new to the site,
I saw the F Word TV prog about crayfish trapping. It came across that its our duty to the environment to capture and eat them all before they destroyed the planet.
I did some research and found out that the white clawed crayfish is endangered and you can get a £5000 fine per crayfish if you capture one.
Does this mean all and sundry have bought nets from Ebay and are out there now killing off an endangered species.
I must admit, I have gone out and bought a capture net from Ebay , I figure it would be a great way to get my family interested in wildlife and conservation.
Also with the research its brought me to this great website that should enlighten and educate me and my family. |

| | | re: Signal Crayfish Hi and welcome..
I guess when you pull your trap you put back any white clawed crayfish straight away and only take the american signal crayfish.
But either way dont do anything until you have the correct license and have got more advice |
