Fish have appeared in our empty pond!

However goldfish and carp arnt to be confused with the same fish they are both distinctive species and goldfish whilst in the carp family are more closely associated with crucian carp both in the Carassius genus as oppose to Cyprinus. So they may revert back to their natural colour but wont change species.

Most of the goldfish that are in our pond are at least third or forth generation bred in the pond
, We have very few gold ones now and most are quite a rich brown colour.

This has baffled us. We thought they must be newts but after looking at pictures of the lifecycle it is clearly not. There are 13 fish all under 50mm and they are grey. The pond is very small and hidden in a large border. The only possibility is maybe they travelled, as eggs on a piece of pondweed we took from my mums pond and carried in a plastic bag. This seems very unlikely to me but do you think this is the explination?

They'd be them thar flying fish tha knows. They probbaly just stopped off for a rest en route to tha seaside.
