Hi All
Just spotted this beetle sitting in one of my ponds?
I know we have Great diving beetles because i have seen them surface with their abdomens out of the water, but this is the first time i have seem a beetle resting on a lillie pad. 
Is it a great diving as it's only about 1cm long?    |

I don't think it is. The Great Diving Beetle and its relatives have a yellow or goldish line around various parts of the wing cases, the pronotum and the head. Plus they're around 30 mm long. Sorry can't tell you any more. |

There are alot of species of Diving beetle in the UK, this is Agabus sp there are afew similar ones, this one is likely to be Agabus bipustulatus. |

What i have is a species of Diving beetle so i will REMOVE the GREAT until the day one hopefully arrives? 
just went back a page on this water life forum and found the thread by HEB
